How to Have a Positive Mindset 

Do you find your mind spiraling out of control sometimes? Your thoughts drift to the worst-case scenarios, or you just overall feel beaten down because things aren’t working out the way you want them to? Well, creating a positive mindset is the most important step in personal growth and development. When you have a positive mindset, it helps you focus on the possibilities and directs your attention on finding solutions rather than dwelling on the negatives. 

You stir up the good and right kinds of emotions instead of the negative ones that are holding you back. You start seeing your situation in a new perspective. Most of all, adopting a positive mindset will make you feel invigorated and inspired to change your situation.

Having a positive mindset also helps to reduce your stress level. Studies like this have shown that positive thinking has health benefits and improves your emotional well-being.

Positive Thinking Tips To Get Started 

1.) Be Kind to Yourself! 

The easiest thing to do is to beat yourself up when things do not go according to plan. That is the fastest way to bring yourself down. So remember to always treat yourself kindly even when things do not go the way you want it.

2.) Laugh

This one seems obvious but, laughter – laughing helps relieve your stress. Sometimes, when your mind feels overwhelmed and your thoughts drift towards the negative, you can start to spiral downward quickly. By laughing, you immediately alleviate your stress and you feel more joyous. Find joy in the little things, even if it’s not where you want to be.

3.) Find Positive People

Find positive people who have a positive outlook. By being around positive people, it will lift your thoughts, attitude, and help you create a more positive mindset. Their irresistible energy will only make you feel good. 

4.) Live In The Moment 

Focus on what is happening right now. Do not think too far ahead. What can you work on now so that you can become a better you? Use this opportunity to get you closer to where you want to be. You cannot change the past, but you can use what you have learned to create a different outcome and propel you forward.


5.) Encourage Yourself!

Every time you do something good, praise yourself. Keep going! Remember to be your best friend and biggest cheerleader. We have a natural tendency to dismiss and overlook our own work or focus on what didn’t workYou should recognize your own efforts and be proud of them! That will help you feel good and maintain positive momentum.

6.) Exercise 

It could be as simple as walking. Get some fresh air and sunlight. Exercise has shown to help with mood regulation and has health benefits as well. Sometimes having  that peace and serenity are all you need to step away from the chatter in your own head to get some quietness and peace, and to reset and create a positive mindset.

7.) Get Some Sleep! 

This one is a no brainer. You need your sleep and rest. So, start each day off on the right foot. By getting enough rest, you will feel good and create that solid foundation for a positive mindset.

8.) Focus on What You Can Control 

Finally, the best way to create a positive mindset is to focus on what you can control. There are a lot of things that we cannot control, and realizing that is half of the battle. Do the best that you can.

9.) Positive Self-talk 

It’s always a good idea to check your own self-talk. Is it negative? If so, you want to be aware of these negative thoughts in your head. Listen to positive podcasts consistently and daily. Start speaking and thinking positively when you catch yourself being critical of yourself. 


As you implement all of these, remember to be consistent. Give yourself some leniency and be proud of yourself for taking the initiative to make a positive mindset shift. Of course, you will have bad days but as long as you have more good than bad days then that’s a success!!
