The Importance of Personal Growth Goals

Personal growth goals are a way for you to make, track, and take necessary actions to achieve what you set out. Having goals help direct focus and also gives clarification on what needs to change.


Where to Start with Your Personal Goals

1) Identify  The first step in starting your personal growth goals is to identify what it is that you want to improve on, change, or make better. Do you feel your health is not where you want it to be? Do you feel like you are not getting enough sleep? Are you unhappy in your relationship? Do you feel like you need to change career? After you have identified what you want to change, you need to gather information and do some research.

2) Research Next, research how others were able to change their situation, and then reach out to someone in that profession. By researching you may find information that may deter you that you may have not otherwise have known. The main point is to do some research and educate yourself first.

3) Make A Plan After researching, make a plan on how you will accomplish these goals you have. Write down your action steps.

4) Take Action Once you have followed through on steps 1 through 4, stay committed, and take action!! None of these will mean anything if you fail to do not take consistent action to make your goals a reality.

How Do I Take Action?

In your mind, you are probably thinking it has to be massive action, often it is just doing the “small” things day-in and day-out. What I have found to be most effective is writing out a list of things to do, things I would like to see myself get done for that day. When I complete each task, I cross it off. This does two things: I feel good about myself because I am doing what I set out,¬† and secondly, I am moving in the direction of my goal.

How Do I Measure My Progress?

Are you taking steps on a consistent basis to achieve what you set out for yourself? Have you done something today or in the last few days to move you closer to your goal? What are your plans these next couple of days that you will do to get you closer to where you want to be?
